The Power Stance is a player ability in Dark Souls II. When dual wielding two weapons of similar classes, attempting to two-hand the left-hand weapon (hold Y/Triangle by default), the player instead activates Power Stance, which makes left-hand attacks swing with both weapons instead. Most light weapons swing in sequence with one another, while most heavy weapons strike simultaneously with
Also, simply turning won't protect you from backstabs. Avoiding them is easy though. All you have to do is unlock, and walk away. It is still possible to backstab if you do this, but it is very difficult. It requires an angled backstab, and this is what I was referring to earlier when I mentioned angles are sometimes necessary.
Parrying does more damage. In addition some weapons have hidden bonuses to riposte damage such as all thrusting swords. And of course I prefer parrying, I think most people that know how to do it reliabily will prefer it over backstabs. #4. Wavistics Jun 20, 2016 @ 9:34pm.
The backstab has a specific "grab box" that you have to be in to activate the attack. It's basically a small trapezoid starting at your opponents feet and extending about 1-2 steps behind them. You must be in this box to activate the backstab.

hmmm that could work but in that situation its very easy to just rotate and backstab that player once they roll towards me since they are always in my face to roll towards theyd just go past me. and better than getting constantly stunlocked getting hit once vs never ending stunlocks is worth it to me :P
There is an option to change the lock on system, at this moment I cant remember where to find them but just go down the list and you will find it.Should make targeting a lot easier :D. dood23. •. I've been switching targets fine just by flicking the right stick in the direction of the enemy i want to switch to. nexes300.
Doesn't make the game unplayable, but still mind boggling. the reason you still got backstabbed is not lag or latency, and to avoid it in the future you just need to understand the mechanics of how backstabs work in ds3. someone comes up to your back and presses r1, this initiates the backstab grab animation. if you get out of the initial grab
